Versace: Ready-to-wear AW21

From original supers in gold mesh, to JLo’s tropical print runway recreation and Precious Lee’s curve-tastic, 2020 catwalk debut; Donatella Versace has been responsible for some of the most memorable fashion moments in recent times. Her heart belongs to the catwalk, but she has proved equally adept at pivoting to film.

Versace’s co-ed digital movie was a dynamic romp through a specially built maze, and featured Gigi Hadid, in her first runway appearance since having her baby girl, Khai, five months ago. She appeared with waist-length red hair, alongside fellow supers Bella, Irina, Vittoria, Adut and Precious, in what was the most focused Versace collection for a long time.

The show fixed firmly on the Greca motif, which was writ large on tailoring, splashed across coats and silk shirts and on the new modular day bags which came with detachable pockets. Come the autumn and you will be able to buy Greca tights (in marker pen bright lace with matching mini dresses), as well as Greca gloves, vinyl coats, silk shirts, head scarves, knits, sock shoes and a host of different bags.

The versatile motif was even shaved into the hair of the male models who wore it quite literally head-to-toe. The graphic maze pattern also worked at night, with Donatella serving Greca metal mesh minidresses for post-pandemic party people. The good times will roll again and Versace is ready.
