Belle du jour. Desire, duality, decadence. Dangerous Liaisons. We love a staccato press release, especially when it cites a couple of our favourite slightly filthy films. Vera Wang abstracted those cinematic sources though – Belle de jour was maybe there in the mostly monochrome palette and bubbly skirts of sheer organza exposing underpinning; the rococo elegance of Glenn Close’s Machiavellian Marquise de Merteuil evoked by firmly-cut gazar dresses with structured volume like courtly mantuas. Desirable those, just like Wang said.
