Valentino, thanks to Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo, has a habit of making beautiful clothes. We can think of worse habits. Like smoking or picking one’s nose. Yes, Valentino make beautiful clothes. For cruise the designers seem to have brought together the worlds of haute couture and Coachella in one, cohesive collection. They have brought together the house’s sense of luxury and the skill of their atelier and a flurry of fringing, floral embroidery and dreamcatchers. The resultant mix has a whiff of Millais’ Ophelia about it (minus the somewhat depressing overtones of insanity and onset of suicide via drowning herself in a stream).
