Valentino Collaborates With Sofia Coppola On Roman Opera

Opera, reserve of the rich, cultured and Kim Kardashian, as of Monday evening in Rome, who, according to the Daily Mail struggled “to contain her incredibly ample assets as she hoists her sexy white gown up”. She was there in the city not only to “prove that love is the great equalizer when the couple decided to enjoy a typical date night” (again, DM) but to enjoy the premiere of Verdi’s La Traviata, an opera about, in brief, a high-class prostitute who hooks an equally high-class man, falls in love and then subsequently dies of a particularly nasty cough. In this latest incarnation, born up in the brains of Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, Violetta’s tale is directed by that much-lauded directress of film, Sofia Coppola. She’s worked in collaboration with Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Directors of Valentino, who will create costumes for Flora and the Chorus, working alongside with the Teatro dell’ Opera’s own workshop. The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma represents for us a patrimony of our city. Its “bottega dell’arte” reflects the values we strive for and that we portray in our Haute Couture Maison,” the pair said. “It has been fantastic for us to have their collaboration for our Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 show dedicated to the great Operas. Today, we are honored to collaborate with Sofia Coppola, Mr. Valentino Garavani and Mr. Giancarlo Giammetti”. Those of you lucky enough to be in the city of Rome can enjoy the performance at the Teatro dell’Opera until June 30th 2016, those of you who aren’t, enjoy the accompanying images of the Sofia and Valentino HQ hard at work.
