In a mystical place, in a time that is neither past nor future, there reign the goddesses of Gucci. Mermaids, cherubs, knights and princesses – the usuals in such tales of fantasy, but here presented by Spanish artist and genius Gucci collaborator Ignasi Monreal, as you’ve never seen them before – clad head to toe in Gucci’s latest – Spring Summer 2018. Giant tigresses with a sequinned helmet and giant Gucci frames, nymphs asleep in ponds, full tracksuit gondoliers – the images build upon the fantastical visions that Alessandro Michele has laid out as his founding vision for the House. And we couldn’t be happier about this blossoming artistic relationship with Monreal, whose works perfectly augment and contextualise Michele’s creations, and who just last month delivered his customary surrealist digitalism to Gucci’s Gift Giving campaign catalogue – certainly worth a peruse. We’re off to get drunk at our Christmas party – Merry Christmas and stay Gucci!
