There’s something about the opening strains of the Rolling Stones Gimmie Shelter that always makes you think of a gritty New York side street from a Martin Scorsese film. And at Topshop Unique clothes lived up to the image. Cropped and seamed leggings with drawstring waists were paired with bombers with oversized fur collars. Lace was hot pink and worn over black underwear and sequin skirts flaunted scenes of mountain lakes. Leather came in black. In the form of fierce looking trench coats, transporting you back to the mean streets of New York. As the press notes said, “if all of the world is a stage- she has the role that everybody wants- a rebel in a rush, she excites with mannish cuts with racy femininity”.
