Topman Design: London Collections Men Ss16

P.E. wasn’t an especially happy school memory for most people who end up in the fashion industry, I’d warrant. But maybe that’s because the shorts weren’t quite as short and the nylon quite as slippery as Topman Design’s, the opener of London Collections Men and the spring/summer 2016 menswear season as a whole. A bit clingy round your thingy granted, but they gave us something nice to look at. But enough fixation about the shorts. This show wasn’t short, and wasn’t all shorts: there were wide training trews with track-pant stripes and skinny go-faster knits with scrambled racer badges. It was Northern Soul-y, and sort of seventies. But not too much, thank god. No one wants to relive Antony Miles’ schooldays. In all, a high-speed start to the spring menswear slalom. We’ll see you on the other side come July.
