How do you follow up a night at New York City’s famed Grand Central Oyster Bar? If you’re Tommy Hilfiger, you take the fashion crowd downtown to the South Street Seaport and have them board a boat. Set on the decommissioned MV John F. Kennedy, which was a Staten Island Ferry in its previous life, the docked ship served as the location for the brand’s spring 2025 show. Given the brand’s nautical penchant, it was a natural fit and a continuation of Hilfiger’s love letter to NYC.
Outside, the crowd was buzzing with excitement. A Tommy show means the celeb front row will be filled with heavy hitters and it did not disappoint. Damson Idris, one of the brand’s faces, made an appearance as did Colin Jost as he and Pete Davidson technically own the decommissioned ferry. Olympians Suni Lee and Gabby Thomas were among the many medalists making the fashion week rounds this week. But the real attention-getters? The K-Pop idols, with swarms of fans screaming in delight at the mere hint of seeing their favorites. Felix and Lee Know from Stray Kids, also Tommy faces, were a huge draw as teen girls clutched their photos behind barricades. The biggest surprise, though, was the appearance of Jisoo from Blackpink, which was kept secret until she appeared clad in a mini, bomber, and beanie among a crush of photographers. Could she be joining the all-star lineup? All signs point to yes.
Once the crowd settled into their seats, the collection kicked off with maritime-infused looks in the brand’s signature red, white, and blue. From Breton and Ithaca shirting stripes to archival regatta jackets and utilitarian pants made from sail-cloth nylons and crinkled cottons, it was a fresh take on the aesthetic. For those who were on the fence about the return of capris, the brand has deemed that they are fully back, with versions ranging from solids to checks. Styled with oversized fisherman knits, the effect was modern and cool. Of course, this being Tommy, there were also classic prep elements like varsity jackets, chinos, polos, and sporty blazers were in abundance. Worn with woven slippers and monogrammed caps, fans will have plenty to choose from come next spring.
To close out the evening, who else but Staten Island royalty, the Wu-Tang Clan? Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon closed the evening with a performance of C.R.E.A.M., much to the delight of the crowd, who couldn’t help but dance in their seats. It takes a lot to get this bunch downtown on a boat, but leave it to Tommy Hilfiger to make it an evening to remember.
