It was feeling a little too quiet in fashion shake-ups this week. Creative Director of Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier is officially stepping down from his role after a solid 17 years – since 2001. They go way back. “It’s largely due to Tomas’s high-level creative demands that Bottega Veneta became the house it is today. He put it back on the luxury scene and made it an undisputed reference,” said François-Henri Pinault, chief executive and chairman of Kering. “I am deeply grateful to him and I personally thank him for the work he accomplished, and for the exceptional success he helped to achieve.” Maier is going out on a high, his Autumn/ Winter 2018 February Show in New York City was oh so chic, Bottega Veneta in it’s Maier element in all those slinky, sleek pyjama style suiting for the ladies and workwear for the boys, the set a collaboration with Gio Ponti and Gianfranco Frattini.
