THE MET MUSEUM OF ART: COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA

Last night was The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala celebrating the opening of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. What a treat to rifle through the good, the bad and WOW…lets just say less AH-MAZING. FYI after this royal weekend, our expectations are especially high….and In most cases they were met.

Sarah Burton- the woman of the moment looking pleased as punch, dressed in McQueen and Fred Leighton jewels. What a busy week she’s had! We’re hoping some kind of royal jet was chartered.

What would such an occasion be without our high priestess? Dressed in Chanel Haute Couture of course.

Papping gold- Anna Dello Russo is bezzie mates with the pulpit these days.

Old school Hollywood glamour from Diane Kruger in Jason Wu and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels.

Ms. Campbell (in McQueen of course) receives a ‘tah-dahhh!’ type welcoming from fellow super Giselle-also in McQueen.

Uptown Night Fever. Florence Welch with Stefano Pilati in Yves Saint Laurent.

Just weasel your way in there…start laughing really loudly and they’ll be none the wiser…suddenly your chums with Mick, his Misses and Demi bloody Moore!

It’s Ms Campbell’s elder Iman in Stella McCartney…..Seriously is the woman ageing in reverse?!

Just chillaxing- Kanye and Rihanna having just served some red carpet realness.

Kate is moving to Mr. Miles’ village very soon (apparently) awwooooo

Those crazy kids in Japan are all doing it…It’s called twinning actually, and we are loving this twinning ensemble from Mr Jacobs and Robert Duffy.

Our hero from Glee- the lovely Gwyneth in Stella McCartney and Fred Leighton jewels.

WOW! Going back to her Wednesday Adams roots…Christina is an appropriately gothic belle of the ball in Zac Posen.

An evening for patriotism? Madonna arrived star spangled and smiling in Stella McCartney and Cartier jewels.

One hundred percent gloss…Karlie Kloss in Dior.

A glamorous bit of chit chat over some bubbly…Coke Zero that is.

Hot damn! Former cover girl Jessica Stam in Tommy Hilfiger with Chopard jewels.

Hamish Bowles in McQueen! Special thanks to the American Vogue team for saving us from any post bank holiday blues with their AH-MAZING outfit choices. Phew!

Repping the ginger massive…..we thank you Miss Elson!

Our fashion fairy godmother (we wish) Mr Andre Leon Talley.
