While the future of nightlife remains clouded by the smoke of uncertainty – with the ripple effect of lockdowns, strict council regulations and financial demands from landlords leading to the shuttering of 65 UK clubs in 2024 – our dance floors have never been more exciting. Inside 10 Men Issue 61, we spotlight a series of DJs that are experts in their craft, taking eclectic sonics born on the British Isles to the biggest stages globally and providing soundtracks to the sort of nights out you’ll be telling your grandchildren about.
Kasra V is well tuned in delighting dance floors far and wide. Born and raised in Tehran, moving to London when he was 17, he has played sets at the likes of Club Raum in Amsterdam and London’s Fabric that weave house and left-field techno with sounds that nod to his Iranian heritage. It’s a quality that’s followed him into his excellent production work too, with the long-term NTS resident launching his own label imprint, V-sion, last summer.

What’s one track that’ll never leave your USB?
Amber’s One More Night (Hani’s Num Club Mix). It’s everything I love in a song. It’s sexy, dramatic and borderline cheesy.
What track never fails to fill a dance floor?
Hysterix’s Talk to Me (Sasha’s Full Music Master Remix). It’s the definition of magic.
What makes a great DJ?
Confidence, experience and a balance between giving and not giving too much. You need to create moments for people to remember a night. It’s also really helpful to be technically good!
What’s been the best night out of your life?
I’d say my first NYE in London. Having moved from Iran, I had just turned 18 and the freedom I experienced that night was like a dream.
What’s a project you’ve worked on that you’re most proud of?
Flower Storm, my latest live A/V project with Sepehr, which reformulates Iranian folklore into club music. The research we put into this project was so helpful already and we can’t wait to go deeper into it!
What does music mean to you?
Life.
What shaped your musical tastes?
The internet, for giving us access to the history of music. Plus going out in London, NTS Radio and exchanging music with friends.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen from behind the decks?
Michelle [Jama] going up the roof of the booth when I was playing at the Adonis outdoor party last summer. If you were there, you know.
What makes a great night out?
Good friends who are up for it!
