The Cure Remedy

Known to us Brits as Three Imaginary Boys when it was first released in 1979 – and Boys Don’t Cry for its subsequent release across the pond – both titles of The Cure’s debut studio album pretty much epitomise the distinct melancholia of goth. Frontrunners in the forlorn, smudged-make-up movement, and led by iconic front man Robert Smith with his red lippy and bedraggled hair, the band boasts a full back catalogue of both music and get-up that has cast a dark spell over large parts of the of 10 Women, which-if you’re lucky you might still be able to find on news stands. This earlier stuff, when Smith’s look was most strangely pretty and his lyrics most heartfelt, is in our humble opinion, the best.
