Drum roll, please. The winner of the 2018 LVMH Prize for Young Designers has just been announced as Masayuki Ino’s label Doublet. Fashion loves a bit of street right now. Announcing the award at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris was Emma Stone with the jury including Karl Lagerfeld, Clare Waight Keller, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Nicolas Ghesquière. Only slightly intimidating. By the looks of it, the label is right up the 2018 alley of great oversized denim, t-shirts, shirts, hoodies etc. We’re into it. Masayuki Ino wins 300,000 euros as well as a year of training from the experts at LVMH. What Doublet’s win tells us is that we’re still very much in the era of street wear. Big, baggy denim and graphic hoodies aren’t going anywhere. Speaking of, Jaden Smith was in the building to present the special prize to Rokh, who received 150,000 euros and a year of mentoring. Congratulations, Masayuki, and onto the next prize.
