Stop everything. Breaking fashion news. Last night while we were all busy doing less important things, ten very lucky, very talented, American designers received some extremely good news indeed. Scott Studenberg and John Targon (Baja East), Matt Baldwin, aurora James (Brother Vellies), Brad Schmidt and Raul Arevalo (Cadet), Chris Gelinas (CG), Becca McCharen (Chromat), David Hart, Rio Uribe, Jonathan Simkhai and Thaddeus O’Neil received all attended a fancy cocktail party hosted by Carolina Herrara at the Jane Hotel where, not only did they find out that it was a free bar they also discovered that they had made it to the CFDA 2015 shortlist and are all in with a chance to be this year’s winner. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Alexander Wang and Public School, not to mention to the $400,000 prize. The winner will be announced on November 2; better get shopping for your red carpet look, and practicing your speeches, oh and don’t forget you have a label to run too. Goodluck designers and congratulations to all the nominees – that’s ten important names to remember, just the right number I’d say.
