Soho-based brand Rejina Pyo stands firm at the heart of London’s ready-to-wear scene. Beloved by the city’s contemporary, fash-conscious women – those that juggle work, family, friends, self-care and side hustles, all whilst clad in a cracking outfit and glowing from a 12-step skincare routine – the brand has a knack for hooking lovers of casual chic. With this strong ethos and sharp design eye, it is now entering 10 years in the bizz – an impressive milestone in a hostile economic climate that has seen shops shuttering en masse. To celebrate, Rejina Pyo has decided to pay homage to those women that are at the beating heart of its design language.
Until November 2, the label is hosting an art exhibition titled As She Is at Soho Revue Gallery, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the brand’s flagship store in Soho. An exploration of womanhood through an array of different art forms, the work of 19 woman artists is on view. From Spanish sculpture artist Ángela de la Cruz who’s patent, dimensional creations find their form by exploring emotional minimalism, to Cassi Namoda, who’s colourful portraits explore the cultural history of her native Mozambique, the display is a delicate, nuanced exploration of the multifaceted experience of being a woman.
The eponymous founder also features, with her installation Mother’s Objects, showcasing objects, furniture and art collected by her mother in South Korea. With the work of Jane Yang-D’Haene, Nengi Omuku, Sammi Lynch and many others up for the perusing too, Rejina Pyo has done the broad scope of female artistic perspectives the justice it deserves. Platforming the importance of building a community and cementing it together with shared values and experience, As She Is is perfect convo fodder for the girls who love a cheeky chin wag about the wonder of womanhood.
