As well as being the behemoth creative talent behind US Vogue for the past 25 years, one-time model and full time redhead Grace Coddington cooks, draws, writes, wears black with aplomb and sasses Anna Wintour like (literally) no other. A true woman of substance, then, I think you’ll agree? So who better to, in the imagined words of Will Johns, “base our scent profile on”? Throw JLo’s Chance, Paris Hilton’s Heiress and Kerry Katona’s Outrageous out the window, for Grace by Grace Coddington is the only celeb-endorsed perfume that should ever grace the bathroom shelves of a real femme du monde. And not just because it is shaped like a cat (a fact bound to get our compulsive cat-adopting Editorial Director, Phoebe, dripping at the mouth) – but also because, unlike any other sentence that includes the words “cat” and “spray” in the same sentence, smells rather wonderful. Like roses, apparently (“my mother had a rose garden, and it just never occurred to me to smell like any other smell except rose,” she told the New York Times) the floral scent nestled alongside white musk, blossom and amber. Spray liberally enough and you may just, well, become her. One can dream.
