When it launched in 2006, the original Terre d’Hèrmes looked at the idea of a scent built from the ground up. Literally. Crafted by Jean-Claude Ellena, the men’s fragrance dug deep into the earth, bringing to the surface the dark scents of wood and vetiver, the spices of pepper and fresh spices, topping it all with zesty citrus notes of grapefruit and orange. Poetically approaching its transformative nature, it takes you on a trip from the root and into the bloom, a vertical imagination of a woody scent. In many ways, Terre d’Hèrmes was the first of its kind. It was a luxury scent juicing the essence of raw materials, setting a precedent for those to come. Exactly 12 of them came, all variations of the original scent, the latest of which has just been released.
As its name suggests, Terre D’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver reigns in on the vetiver as its fragrance focus, rearranging the structure of the original, covering this recomposition with the light of a burning sun. Like playing games, parfumeur Christine Nagel took a whole tower of Jenga down, and rebuilt the wooden blocks back in a completely new way. Powerful, earthy and illuminated with a sense of lightness, Terre D’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver is the autumnal dream that we need on our beauty shelves this season. Bring on the wind, rain and leaves – we’re ready!
Terre D’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver is available online and in selected stores in 50ml bottles.
