Satisfaction is the enemy of innovation. No, I’m not quoting Socrates here – this one is from my personal books and you can quote me on it. It’s true though – why would you make something better if you’re already satisfied? Luckily, there are people in this world who are never just happy, and those are the people in charge of some of the greatest inventions. Electricity. Lightbulb. Toilet. Toilet paper. All of these objects came out of necessity for change. But how do you innovate something that already seems so perfect, like a pair of trainers? Santoni are here to answer the question. The latest addition to their rich lexicon of luxury footwear is Innova, a trainer interpreting their vision of freedom, experimentation and contemporaneity.
While we all know Santoni as being proficient in the field of formal kicks, they have steadily been developing their understanding of sports, veiled in Italian elegance. Innova is proof of progress – the minimal, sleek design of a running silhouette is pushed into the lifestyle category thanks to the fine details adding streetwear codes, Orange hand-stitching and raw-cut edges painted by hand are offset by the fine soft nappa leather and a pull tab in the matching hue of the brand’s signature tangerine. The sole is where all the technical details come through – the TPU stabiliser on the heel, with two-toned embossed rubber serving maximum grip and featuring 2 cuts on the front in order to grant highest flexibility. The first version to drop is in white and orange, with the other colourways (jet black, oxford blue and uniform green) coming to stores in September. While the Innova might not essential for contemporary living (but who are we to decide?), it surely does look good. And it allows you to go about your day, quicker and chicer.
The Santoni Innova trainers are available to shop online and in selected stores.
