Okay, we’ll admit it. We’re label whores. Because Gods might exist, but our own personal Jesus is Miuccia Prada, and we pledge our allegiance by revealing those nice blue labels of hers at any opportunity. Like a kabbalah bracelet. But expensive. We even wear our clothes inside out, just so people know how much money we’ve spent. You might call such behaviour as gauche, but, as of today, we’ve received proof that Mrs Prada, who is in no way gauche, approves of brandishing her namesake label. Evidence? Her brand new Etiquette bag (out tomorrow!) where the famed blue label is not hidden away in the lining, but presented proudly on the front of the bag. Just so that everybody knows. Of course, the brains at Prada have a more intellectual take: “Etiquette is imbued with several Prada codes: typological innovation, the inside-outside principle, an anti-status attitude, fetishization of craftsmanship, an inquiry into the relationship between brand and product, and a contradictory nature.” Ouuu. Nods of agreement. Got told this morning that the bags come in Glacé Calf Leather and in a variety of colours. Glacé, like the cherries. Yum!
