For the shiny, new addition to the Louis Vuitton family of bags, Nicolas Ghesquière looks back to move forward. Christened the GO-14 bag, the house’s atelier has reinterpreted a centuries-old quilting, called malletage, which was used to pad the inside of Louis Vuitton’s earliest trunks in the 1800s. In a love letter to the maison’s archive, Ghesquière makes the previously unseen luxury technique the bag’s main attraction
As a nod to Louis Vuitton’s French roots, the padded lambskin leather is crisscrossed to emphasise the bag’s curvature, reminiscent of a plaited baguette from a boulangerie. And what’s more Parisian than that? Available in an assortment of rich tones, you can choose between shades of warm chocolate brown, monochrome or black with rose quartz pink undertones. The colours create a greater depth to the textured silhouette.
Undeniably, this delightful bit of arm candy is for the gal on the go – it can be worn a myriad of ways, be it over the shoulder crossbody with its gold chain or handheld. The bag has the functionality to accompany you anywhere, from a day of gallery hopping to dinner with your nearest and dearest – the GO-14 is a trusty sidekick you can rely on.
