Do you remember your first pair of Converse? Mine was a classic white hi-top All Stars. I wore them every day, on any occasion and despite any weather condition. It’s safe to say they were the first trainers I ever loved. Sadly, that romance – like most others – ended up failing spectacularly. My mum tumble-washed them together with a red sock that went rogue from its pair. The end result? My converse turned a weird, ombré shade of orange, a sunset colourway that I couldn’t bear to see at the time. Fast-forward 10 or so years and I’m kicking myself for not being a forward thinker and throwing those accidentally-DIY one-of-a-kind kicks. Why? Well, just look at the stunning JW Anderson x Converse that just came out. Part of the third capsule collection the two brands have put together, these just-out Tequila Sunrise-shaded vinyl hi-tops are the kind of sunshine everyone needs in their life right now. Add some terry cloth lacing and a semi-transparent blue rubber sole, and you’ve got yourself the kind of footwear that will look perfectly appropriate both at a warehouse rave in Hackney Wick, and then at the Sunday brunch on the Regent’s canal the day after. Am I just projecting? Probably, but I bet I’ll see you at the Toy (named after the collection) pop-up shop dedicated to this fab collab which is running over the weekend at 20 Beak Street in London’s Soho. We can grab some 2-4-1 cocktails after!
