Sleek, playful and seductive; JW Anderson’s anticipated Padlock boots are now available to buy in a variety of electric colourways.
No stranger to the abnormal, Jonathan Anderson always opts to embrace subversion, unleashing the latest innovations in silhouette and structure onto the runway. At the brand’s identity-bending pre-fall 2023 showcase in Milan, Anderson played with the loaded symbolism of padlocks when contextualised in terms of gender, scattering the JWA logo-etched ornament across everything from bags and belts to a number of leather skirts, dresses and jackets. Not to mention the boots, a sleek style winter kick with a streamlines front-zip closure and belted ankle.
The new round-toe boots utilise a full-grain calf leather for the outer and split-grain sheep leather for the internal lining – a material choice that is not only louche, but is seriously considered alongside the philosophy of the collection on which Anderson comments: “It’s working with tensions; this idea that the bag becomes the shoe, the shoe becomes the bag.” Part of a wider expansion for JWA footwear, following the release of their abundantly charming Wellipets Frog clogs, leather mules and boots featuring a sexy stiletto heel are also on offer, each with that same padlock detail on the anterior.
The undeniable connotation of mystery that underpins the padlock motif makes these seriously seductive; we can’t wait to get our hands on the lush ocean blue pair. Shop now.
