What’s that? Something… smooth like butter? Oh, that’s just the latest crep creation from the footwear team at Louis Vuitton, with menswear direction from Pharrell Williams. The ever-flashy LV Buttersoft Sneaker got its own remix with house ambassador and heartthrob-band BTS’s beloved J-hope. Originally created for the star to comfortably accompany him on a world tour, LV has finally decided to treat the fash pack on a bigger scale – whether a K-pop stan or just a ‘criminal undercover‘.
Inspired by the chunkiness and durability of 2000s kicks, the special edition Louis Vuitton x J-Hope LV Buttersoft Sneaker blends sporty comfort with luxurious craftsmanship. Think buttery-smooth Italian calf-suede but with a neat, tailored approach, hand-finished details and a bright rosy colourway that encapsulates the energetic aura of the popstar. The devil really is in the details here, with the shoe featuring eye-catching, oversized woven laces plastered with text reading “Your, My Hope”, a nod to J-hope’s name. The shoes’ leather accents echo classic LV luggage tag designs too (and are a direct reference to the LV Speedy P9 bag label), proving these shoes are ready to come along ‘every time you walk, every time you run, every time you move’.
On the outer side of the tongue, is a small patch scribed with the Louis Vuitton Paris stamp and J-hope’s signature. And for a fan-intended Easter egg, hidden near the heel are dainty squirrel and acorn charms. IYKYK, dear devout admirers.
LV takes retro design and makes it luxury, again. But this time, with a little sprinkle of K-pop stitched in. Butter up here.
