As the opening title appears underwater from a perspective of a shark, the tone for the next two hours are set. We’re talking Jaws by Steven Spielberg, a cinematic masterpiece that happens to be lurking back onto our screens right now. All thanks to Givenchy. Much less scary and quite a bit more fabulous, the Jaw is the first trainer design from the House’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller. With its chunky sole resembling a strong set of teeth and a sleek upper in a combination of leather and neoprene, the trainer combines an athletic spirit with the feminine designs Waight Keller’s Givenchy is oh so known for. They are available in multiple colourways as well as in both hi-top and low-top versions for both guys and girls, but our choice is the graphic black & white combo. The stark white jaws and the neoprene netting – it’s basically the perfect choice of footwear for your next Spielberg marathon. But until then, perhaps you should consider heading over to 165 New Bond Street where Givenchy have opened their first UK store. Equally sleek and graphic as the Jaws, the just-opened space is truly a haven of high-fashion, its multi-story interior reminiscent of a Parisian art gallery. And while you’re walking between the spotless mirrored walls, your equally spotless footwear choice will be on display – from every angle. All in all, it’s a great time to be a Givenchy gal.
The Jaw is available online as well as in the just-opened Givenchy London flagship store at 165 Bond Street.
