Ten Heads: J.W. Anderson

What makes a legend most? A question many have asked yet few have managed to answer. Is it a glorious and powerful force often taken for granted yet never destroyed? A force that simply exists without rhyme or reason? Or is it simply a case of good hair? Take the hair at JW Anderson, for example. Thick and super glossy, like an oil slick has exploded over it. The light bounces off it, creating almost a halo over the models’ heads. Tough yet oddly angelic. It’s Helen of Troy hair. Hair that could launch 1,000 ships, or in this case, sell 1,000 bottles of shampoo. Yes, there’s a case to be made for “keeping it real”, combing actual oil through your hair. But oil is greasy. Oil could catch alight should a loose hair break free and accidently float past the flame of your lighter while you fumble with a cigarette. Oil is a fire hazard. It breaks every health and safety rule. Which is why an oil-effect shampoo should be invented. Want to look like this? Use this. After all, as Jane Fonda would say, you’re worth it. And shampoo doesn’t drip on shoulders, causing unsightly stains on your clothes. Well, hair is not washed when fully clothed, is it? Could this be the start of JW Anderson hair care? Maybe, yes. Probably no. But it does answer the question of what becomes a legend most.
