Erdem’s new exhibition, Imaginary Conversation, is now on view at Chatsworth until October 20, inviting visitors on a journey the storied world of the late Duchess Deborah Devonshire and the Devonshire Collections through the SS24 collection of fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu.

Starting in the Queen of Scots’ lobby and ending in the Wellington bedroom, the exhibition blurs the lines between Erdem’s collections and that of the Duchess, investigating how her essence came to be a primary source of inspiration for the house whilst bringing to life Erdem’s process. Showcased is the inspiration, craft and tools involved in translating the life and legacy of a singular subject into a fully realised fashion collection. Guests can explore how contemporary fashion is shaped by the past, as they walk through the regency guest bedrooms at Chatsworth, and expect to see textiles and objects that belonged to the monarch, including personal letters, photographs and jewellery, backdropped by a voice recording of the Duchess herself.

From start to finish, Imaginary Conversations demonstrates fashion’s biographical and anthropological power to portray the beauty of an individual’s life through a sartorial dialogue. Book your tickets here. KK
