Fendi Expands At Harrods

Fendi has taken up more room in Harrods – because, frankly, it deserves it. The newly expanded Women’s Superbrands boutique is Roman grandeur reimagined: Palladiana flooring in Travertino Ascoli and Giallo Valencia marble, Calce Romana walls, columnar details and a totemic ceramic sculpture by Olivia Cognet all across an additional 50 square metres of shopping space and three rooms total. It’s a love letter to craft, architecture and a little mid-century swagger. EP

Jean Paul Gaultier Catwalk is here

Thames & Hudson is giving Gaultier the gospel treatment with Jean Paul Gaultier Catwalk, a doorstopper of divine decadence. From cone bras to sailor boys, every collection from 1976 to 2020 is laid bare in full archival glory. Inside, Vogue’s Laird Borrelli-Persson calls the designer a “the quintessential postmodernist, who is galvanised by the clash of opposites (high/low; street/salon; tailoring/flou), gender fluidity, and melting-pot culture in terms of size, ethnicity, sexual orientation and nationality” – which feels about right. Loïc Prigent, who has penned the foreword, adds: “Gaultier epitomises the idea that everything is there to be challenged: established genders and genres, fashion hierarchies, what is considered beautiful, the body types that appear on the catwalk.” We’ll raise a corset to that. After Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Chloé and Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier Catwalk is the tenth volume in the iconic series. Get your copy here.
