For their Autumn/ Winter 2018 outing, Teatum Jones drew on the notion of Global Womanhood, women who embody their tenets of boldness, confidence, creativity and intelligence, women from different ages, backgrounds and ethnicities who inspire and motivate those around them, women like our fearless leader, Editrix-in-Chief Sophia Neophitou. Along with twenty four other movers and shakers, she was recorded answering three questions about some of her most instinctive emotions (we’re privy to a fair few on a daily basis), for a film that premiered during the show, providing the backdrop to the runway. Needless to say, her appearance, and that of others, was powerful and moving – not a dry eye in the house.
The collection itself offered a physical reflection of the joy, hope and pain that soundtracked the show. Split into three chapters, intense joy, intense sadness and hope, each core emotion was represented by a corresponding colour palette; red and burgundy, black and navy, and flawless white demarcated where one ended and another began, anthropomorphising the feelings and sentiments that provided the basis for the collection. We enjoyed it so much we watched the entire thing again once we got back, and we suggest you do the same by watching the below video.
