The genius of Hiroshi Fujiwara has been notorious in the fashion circles for decades. He was the one that revolutionised the vision of street style in Japan, and has thereby earned himself the title of the “godfather of Harajuku”. He has since launched Fragment Design and homeware brand Retaw, made an appearance in the strip club scene in Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, collaborated with Moncler, was one of the guest designers at last season’s Pitti Uomo in Florence… He has been a busy, busy man, building his international profile to the heights of his Japanese fame. And he doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
Launching in a limited edition of only 500 pieces, Fujiwara worked with the master watchmakers at Tag Heuer on recreating their classic Carrera shape into a contemporary staple. An original model from 1963 was given a dark, slick look in true Fragment Design style. There’s two straps that come with – a black and gray NATO one as well as a black, croc-effect leather one. Love a good option. The shimmering 39mm stainless-steel case features three monochrome counters along with a double lightning bolt logo and “fragment” subtle written in the bottom right side. “There aren’t many new watches I’d want, but I’m sure about this one,” says Mister Fujiwara of the collab.
