Ten’s to See: Sujin Lee’s First UK Solo Exhibition At Saatchi Yates

Fancy stepping into a female-only world filled with nothing but friendships, sisterhood and love? Welcome to the universe of Sujin Lee. Hosting her first UK solo exhibition at Saatchi Yates gallery in Mayfair, the Korean artist has packed the space with acrylic-based paintings that are driven by the inspiration of her immediate surroundings and ideas of self-reflection.

Born in Korea’s mystical Jeju Island, famed for its compelling landscapes and wrap-around waterfronts, the self-taught artist quickly found liberation in the arts. Later on, she took her talents to the vibrant city of Seoul to pursue her creative practice, now residing in London.

Marking Sujin Lee’s largest exhibition to date, the 20-piece showcase features her newest body of work drawing inspiration from the love and care found within her close group of friends. From a tight embrace to hand-in-hand pairings, a sense of intimacy longed for over the past 24 months is captured in each piece. Lee’s enchanting backgrounds reflect her hometown’s sky-high treetops and radiant gardens that sprinkle vibrancy as far as the eye can see.

The show is a tender display of emotional connections. They say girlfriends are long-lost soul sisters, through good times and bad they are a second family for us all.
