Stone Island Reveal Prototype Research Series 2.0

SI

Contrary to what the title might suggest, Stone Island are not party to some sort of highly experimental government research. Rather, they are doing exactly what they do best – namely, producing ultra sleek, HQ outdoor wear. But there is a twist. Ouuu. The fifty garments here, launched at Tortana Design Week on Tuesday, are made in fifty different colours, incorporating fabrics and treatments born from research and experimentation processes that have not yet been industrialised. Results of said research produced Dyneema®, which, or so says the release, is “the most durable lightweight fabric in the world with increased tear, puncture and abrasion performance.” It’s basically superhuman. And the colours themselves? They’ve been created in the Stone Island Colour Laboratory. For security reasons, I’m prohibited from saying any more, other than this fabulous collection will be on sale at the end of April. And every piece is limited edition. Choose your colour from the nice picture above, where they float like innocuous paper lanterns. Aren’t they pretty?
