Under regular circumstances, festival season would’ve been in full swing right now. We didn’t think we’d miss spending our weekends dancing in muddy fields so much, but here we are. Glasto might be a whole year away, but thanks to Stella McCartney, we won’t have to wait that long till we can have a good ol’ boogie. Kicking off today, the designer is launching Stellafest, a digital showcase that is raising funds to end violence against women. Over the next four days, musicians across the globe will perform on McCartney’s Instagram and TikTok platforms, including stellar names such as Kelis, Chloe X Halle and former 10+ cover star Soko.
“Artists from our community have come together to create a festival that is truly global – using technology and social media to bring the mosh put onto your mobile,” says McCartney. “While I was sad not to see dad and all the other great performers at Glastonbury this year, we have put together an incredible line-up and are raising our voices to end violence against women, a cause more urgent now than ever.” Alongside the performances, McCartney has teamed up with Mastercard to create an action to raise funds for The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). Prizes include a cooking class with Kelis, a video chat with Alicia Keys and a virtual studio visit with McCartney herself. A festival with both showers and prizes? Move over Glasto, you’ve got tough competition.
Stellafest takes place until July 12 across Stella McCartney’s digital challenges. You can access the Stellafest charity auction here.
