Ever since Stefan Cooke and his partner Jake Burt made their Fashion East debut back in January of 2018, the design duo have quickly become one of the hottest tickets on the London Fashion Week calendar. Synonymous for their slender tailoring, trompe-l’œil prints and distinct, subversive takes on classic menswear tropes, the designers have quickly been snapped up by renowned retailers like Dover Street Market and SSENSE, and are even part of Matches Fashion’s Innovators programme.
For spring/summer 2021, the pair began crafting fantasy wardrobes. A series of emblems – Stefan Cooke’s first proper go at a logo – are meant to represent that of an imagined private school. Models wore school ties transformed into skinny scarfs, paired with leather waistcoats and beaded vests in slightly awkward proportions. The brand’s signature cut-out lattice jumpers came in navy and lemon yellow, worn with a new, looser trouser silhouette for the season – inspired by vintage hospital clothing the designers sourced in Paris.
Every private schoolboy loves his sports, and Stefan Cooke imagined their very own PE kit, including spacious trackies tucked into woolly socks and 3D-printed face guards made in collaboration with Bureau Ribeyron. Slick, clean and totally desirable – you don’t have to be a private school posho to appreciate how good these clothes actually are.
