As I peek down over the balcony, down towards the nerve centre of Ten Towers (aka where Sophia and Antony sit), what do I see? A rather large model of a Stormtrooper. Admittedly, this is nothing new – it has sat upon Antony’s desk for a long while (he’s a big fan, you see). But now, it seems somewhat prophetic, seeing as there is a new Star Wars film coming. Well, apparently, anyway. I’ve never quite got the whole Star Wars thing. That said, my interest has been piqued with the announcement of “Star Wars: Fashion Finds The Force” Why? because they’ve got 10 fabulous designers to make a unisex sweatshirt and T-shirt inspired by “the motifs and mood” of the films. And just look at the list – JW Anderson, Peter Pilotto, Agi & Sam, Bobby Abley, Christopher Raeburn, Claire Barrow, Nasir Mazhar, Phoebe English, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Thomas Tait. Phew! And, the best bit is that all the money will go to Great Ormond Street. So you don’t have to feel bad about splashing the cash. So, passing over to J.W. Anderson (or should we say double BFA award-winning, J.W. Anderson) – “I think that’s what I find so interesting about Star Wars is that it’s incredibly current even if it’s in a different world, you have this fantasy steeped in a harsh reality.” But that’s not all, the designers have also created special catwalk looks that will be auctioned off in a special presentation tomorrow night at the Old Selfridges Hotel.
