Sportmax SS17 girls were shipwrecked on a Japanese island, searching for fabulous treasures. Gone fishing. Fish made their way in print onto dresses and as earrings, some fell from one earlobe almost like a fish hook. Great underwater colours in big sleeves and fine knit loose panel dresses that moved almost swimmingly. Funny that. Fabrics gathered and rouched, almost like the mast of a ship. Well, the collection was inspired by Kusukazu Uraguchi’s ‘Shima no Ama’, a black and white photo book of women by the sea. Apparently it’s all about the body. “Youthful thighs stride from playfully tucked up skirts,” the show notes read. Interesting. It was playful and then they turned up the volume. Satin cinched jumpsuits and shine. Ladies who were pearling. They look so chic stranded. We wonder who will save them.
