For the last few months our very own Editor-in-Chief Sophia Neophitou has been busy working alongside Nick Knight in training up the next generation of aspiring photogs as part of Mastered’s Photography series. Can you think of a better team with which to impart their fashion wisdom? Nah, didn’t think so. As part of it, we at 10 Magazine set them an extra special brief – a story to slot inside of our pages centred around a single point of inspiration. “Within 8 to 10 pages you’ll be able to create a little moment that I can be immersed in and inspired by, that shows you and your capabilities as a creative,” Sophia said. And when she talks – you should listen. Now, she’s picked her favs – eight of them.
The first to be bestowed with the honour from Ten’s reigning queen? Christopher Polack, an artist and director from Melbourne. He focussed the shoot on his “genuine concerns of the issues surrounding us” and found inspiration in the colour black – his photographs becoming an exploration of its textures, imperfections and possibilities, looking at the work of artists Pierre Soulages and Banks Violette in the process.
