My mind wandering as it tends to on a Tuesday afternoon, I decide to Google my daily horoscope. I’ve been reading a lot about moon cycles of late, you see. Today, I am told, is the perfect chance to use my naturally fertile imagination. I should turn to painting, drawing or other such artistic endeavours. And, I must “be sure to grab any opportunity to weave a fascinating tale for a child.” Now, there are no children in the vicinity (as I like it) so instead, lucky readers, I will weave a tale for you. This story is about a lady and her male friend. They are tough. They cruise the streets of New York, or Berlin, or another such vibracious (vibrant + vivacious) cities with what can only be described as a “no prisoners” attitude to life. Upon their bodies are trench coats, bombers, cargo pants. She wears an occasional mini skirt, he wears a blouson with a fur collar. He can pull off a large leather bumbag. But now – an admission. This is not from my imagination at all. Because what I describe are actually just Anthony Vaccarello’s Versus Versace girls and boys, as evidenced in this sneak peek at his AW16 collection for the Italian house’s naughty little sister. Tough cookies – the “rebellious attitude of Versus Versace: a utilitarian mood for the city streets”, apparently. And, if you needed reassurance, just ask Donatella – “I love people with a strong sense of mind. It’s this toughness that we capture in the new Versus Versace collection – the individual attitude of the new generation,” she says.
