It’s fair to say most girls would love to wear a Simone Rocha dress. The Irish born, London-based designer is an architect when it comes to creating clothes that teeter between ethereal and intellectual, packed tightly with wow factor by the plentiful. Whilst many have only dreamed of wearing a Rocha gown from afar, today it was announced the designer is H&M’s next collaborator. Rejoice!
Following the likes Karl Lagerfeld, Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo and Jeremy Scott’s Moschino – that’s some big shoes to fill – Rocha is the first Irish designer to undertake such a collaboration with the high street juggernaut.
2021 also marks a decade since the designer founded her label, so it’s only apt that for her H&M collab, Rocha took a trip way back into her archive. Expect pearl-embellished outerwear, puffy tulle dresses and floral fantasy evening wear, all made in the brand’s signature reds, pinks and creams, as well as a series of bespoke fabrications created specifically for the collection. And for the first time ever, Rocha is doing kids clothing and menswear – making for one happy writer – which includes tees, trenches and cracking accessories for all.
“Being able to do something and share it across so many people, across all ages, all sizes and all nationalities, it was really important for me that the collection brought femininity, strength and modernity,” said Rocha in a short teaser announcing the collection, which starred Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones, Adwoa and Kesewa Aboah and brand muse Tess MacMillan.
The collection drops March 11, and it’s set to sell out in minutes, if not seconds. So on the day, you best had get your skates on.
