Ten’s To See: ‘Girls Girls Girls’ by Simone Rocha at Lismore Castle Arts

We like girls in Simone Rocha! And apparently, so does Lismore Castle Arts. Opening its doors to the public this past weekend, a cutting-edge group show curated by the designer is taking place in Rocha’s native Ireland.

Dubbed Girls Girls Girls, the show is Lismore Castle Arts’ premier presentation this year, supporting long-term, cultural vitality and acting as a launchpad for the rest of the not-for-profit’s 2022 endeavours – think exhibitions, events and its learning programme.

With each inspiring sculpture and off-kilter photograph centred around female practices, the exhibition delves deep into the subversive characteristics of femininity and the neoteric idea of the female gaze. In a press release, Rocha wrote: “I want the exhibition to be an exploration of femininity in an honest way by having the presence of each artist in the room together, with their multiple viewpoints, and bringing their works into conversation with each other.”

Celebrating a vast array of approaches, the exhibition amplifies current critical voices within the art world.  A mashup of past, present and future perspectives, a red-thread extends between renowned creatives like Cindy Sherman, Roni Horn, Petra Collins and Harley Weir, connecting them to new-gen talents like Luo Yang, Genieve Figgis, Sophie Barber, Elene Chantladze and more. Grab your best gal pals and get down to Lismore for some unfiltered girl power. What are you waiting for? Gorgeous, gorgeous girls go to Girls Girls Girls.
