Selfridges Celebrate The Rolling Stones At The Corner Shop

rs_mainCalling all serious Rolling Stones fans, and we mean serious. Start ‘em up. The kind of fans who collect memorabilia, or perhaps want a Rolling Stones stamped pool table in their living room, amongst Rolling Stones styled Moleskines and guitar picks, signed and framed photographs and Rolling Stones gin. Sound like a dream? Great, it’s all being sold at Selfridges as of this week. In celebration of The Rolling Stones being The Rolling Stones, as well as their No Filter 2018 tour that kicks off on May 17th, Selfridges have collaborated with the band and Bravado (Universal Music Group’s merch people) to curate an installation in The Corner Shop. We’re viewing it as See Now Buy Now situation for merchandise. Don’t wait until you’re at the concert, stock up before and actually wear it to the concert. Clever. The collection has given the iconic red tongue logo a new yellow lewk. V summery. We’re into it. Along with t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and kidswear, the Stones’ first ever vinyl box set featuring every studio album from Sticky Fingers onwards (remastered, cut at half-speed and pressed on heavyweight 180 gram vinyl) will be on display for fans to see before it goes on sale June 15. This all sounds great but more importantly, an archive of the band’s stage outfits will be on display. This includes a Balenciaga “heavily embroidered matador-style jacket in red and gold,” a USA flagged denim jacket worn on the Steel Wheels tour of ’89 and Mick Jagger’s red ombre ostrich feather cape with black lace lining designed by L’Wren Scott, that he wore when performing Sympathy for the Devil. Legendary fashion, always our favourite kind. We can most definitely get some satisfaction from this. You can always get what you want.
