SAINT LAURENT: PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S 14
Definitely an air of youth club disco from up north about the collection. Angry teenage girls with spiteful intentions, a bad girl gang that wouldn’t hesitate to take on the world. It was a moment of ‘This is England’ in the attitude -hard and angry with lots of small leather mean girl jeans. Almost the idea of pieces taken from an older sister that have been scissored and hacked ruthlessly to accommodate these girls needs. Small mini dresses and low winkle pickers paired with glittery ankle socks enforced the youth-centric intention of the collection. Question is, is this all intended to court the new breed of Saint Laurent customer, or are they accommodating and considering their existing ones? The proof will be in the pudding as sales figures are ultimately what matters in todays world of fashion.
