It was as if the collection wrapped you in the perfect blend of warmth and edge – like wearing a stylish suit made out of your favourite sweater. Well actually, that’s exactly what Sacai did. For its AW25 collection, Sacai showcased a stunning blend of silhouettes and unexpected material mashups on the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by embracing oneself in a cocoon of fabric, Sacai founder and creative director Chitose Abe formed a new wearable wardrobe, striking the perfect balance between bold and tender.
The opening look, modelled by Loli Bahia, set the tone with a fresh take on formalwear – an asymmetrical sleeveless blazer integrated with a dramatic scarf thrown over the shoulder. This was followed by unexpected pairings of feathers and leather, oversized sequins and embroidery all perfectly fused into suits, collared button-downs and skirts. Finding a balance between the formal and familiar, Abe encapsulated the idea of turning traditional sophistication into something surprising and entirely new.
More looks, like a leather corset-shaped top that morphed into a shearling-hemmed zip skirt, down jackets ornamented with fur trims and military shapes or wrap-around shoulder knits combined with flowing chiffon, all further showcased Sacai’s splicing philosophy. Then, whilst Abe’s usual enlarged silhouettes were ever so finely trimmed down to outline a more feminine figure, pops of colour such as scarlet red, added an audaciousness to the offering’s fairly neutral palette. Injecting edginess via the accessories, the footwear included variation of sleek black leather boots and fur-covered flats, complemented by matching handbags.
With this outing, Sacai continued to masterfully blend strength and comfort, marrying new elements with wearability and offering a fresh perspective on modern femininity.
