You’re nothing without a hashtag. If you don’t have one attributed to your name then it’s basically like you don’t exist at all. I mean, Roland Mouret knows. He definitely has his own. And, heeding to the power of the criss-crossing symbol, he’s just created another one in his role at Robert Clergerie as Creative Director – #ClergerieGirls, to launch the search for well, Clergerie Girls. And what type of girl is that? I hear you ask. Well she’s “free, confident, audacious with an independent style of their own,” apparently. Found through social media (where else?) the 600 applicants were given 6 pairs of Clergerie shoes in order to “showcase their own unique style” and over 20,000 likes later Mouret, alongside his fellow judge/social media queen, Leandra Medine (aka Man Repeller) found one winner. Her name? Katy Shayne from Austin, Texas “chosen for her quirky, artistic style, the surprising emotion expressed in her visuals and her avant garde, cool approach.” What more could you want from a #ClergerieGirl? Totally hashtag worthy. To celebrate, she was flown business class to gay Paris during fashion week, thrown a fabulous dinner and got to stay the night in swanky hotel, L’Hotel. But, that’s not it, oh no – she will also create her very own shoe alongside Roland himself, the “Katy Shayne”. Your very own shoe? What more could a lady want. Hashtag fabulous.
