ROGER VIVIER: 1953 CORONATION SHOES
‘A fine sandal of gold kidskin leather inlaid with rubies to the heel and upper decoratif motif’, a quite proper description of shoes created for the most proper of occasions. Jubilee fact of the day!- Monsieur Roger Vivier was selected to create Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation shoes, complete with hidden platform, for better reigning over her subjects. Inspired by the design, (who wouldn’t be), current Creative Director Bruno Frisoni, has taken the fleur de lys motif, and utilised it for a capsule collection entitled ‘Princess to be a Queen’, and more literally in the couture design ‘A Queen Forever’. We’re sure you’re as monarch obsessed with us…chasing images for you now!
