If there ever was a brand that didn’t need a fashion show, that would be Rodarte. Their creations, fluffy and princess-like, pay homage to all those fantastical dreams su girls and boys experienced at some point in our lives. In over a decade that they have been showing their collections, Laura and Kate Mulleavy outgrew the experimental period of their careers and established themselves in the category of surreal red-carpet dressing. And so who better to model their collection than people that actually walk the red carpets? Once again going back to skipping the classic show format after last season’s move to L.A., their new SS20 lookbook features a star-studded line-up of people that perfectly embodies the vision of a Rodarte wearer.
Kirsten Dunst, Rowan Blanchard, Haim sisters, Alexa Demie, Maggie Rogers, King Princess… The list goes on and on – just imagine how fun this shoot was, overflowing with all that talent and beauty. The collection? A slightly tamer variations of last season’s story, particularly in the volume department. Ruffles, tulle and sequins still bring the drama, with the full look being completed with knee-high boots in a matching fabric. It’s like Barbie dressing, but made for real human beings that can bend their arms. Well, that’s if your idea of realness includes the shining lights of Hollywood. A girl can only dream…
