Roberto Cavalli: Ready-to-wear ss19

Has Roberto Cavalli designer Paul Surridge been looking at what today’s modern muses (the Kardashian/Jenners, Hayley Baldwin and the Hadids) wear to go from one Instagram moment to the next? If so, it’s a good strategy. Cavalli girls are most definitely “on” social media and like to wear clothes that read well in an Instagram square. For day (N.B. Cavalli woman is not an early riser) that meant cycling shorts and broad shouldered hourglass shaped blazers (these girls don’t do the boring 9-5 either so their tailoring is more outré). Silk shirt dresses were printed with antique coins and worn with matching tights as per the maximalist codes of the house. Another code – the famous animal print appeared as abstracted tiger stripes on lean leggings and matching jackets.

The Cavalli woman likes to rev things up for evening. Surridge obliged with glistening bias cut gowns, grecian-style mini dresses, cut away to reveal toned abs and bead-encrusted body-con numbers, scooped away at the front and layered over a teeny tiny shirt. See you in the VIP room, Ms Cavalli.
