“Everything is precious, bar the attitude,” read the show notes for Peter Dundas’ first outing at Roberto Cavalli. For whilst the Cavalli girl was once a little stand-offish – a sort of otherworldly glamazon – this new Cavalli girl is savvy, a bit cooler. She wears a parka over a dress, a leather bomber. Printed jeans. That kind of thing. But don’t fret, Dundas’ girl has not forgotten her glamourous roots – hence the Pretty Woman-style dresses, leather mini skirts, eighties-style bleached denim. Or the November-Rain style skirts, long at the back, short on the front and frilled out the edges, skimming the legs of those front row. Which probably made them feel lucky. Because that’s what the new Cavalli girl is sure to make you feel – lucky to be in her presence.
