It’s Rihanna’s world, and we’re just living in it. The songstress has dominated the world of make-up, lingerie and now under her LVMH-backed Fenty label, is taking over the luxury fashion market – one oversized suit at a time. The latest Fenty drop sees the entrepreneur delve into the world of jewellery. Re-imaging tradition via the ancient craft of Cameo jewellery portraits, the three-piece capsule consists of a ring, a pair of earrings and a pendant that can also be worn as a brooch. Some adorned in Swarovski embellishments, others circled with pearls, the oval silhouettes house an emblem of a young, African woman.
Lensing the campaign for the collection is Ruth Ossai, the Nigerian-born, Yorkshire-based photographer whose work is inspired by Nollywood DVD covers and their vivid hues. Ossai teams up with hair-stylist extraordinaire Issac Poleon, who join in their “focus on the silhouettes and sculptural beauty of afro hairstyle.” Less than a year after the birth of Fenty, the LVMH powerhouse is leading by example on how a brand can balance quality, innovative product with a solid inclusive outlook that comes from a genuine connection with its customer as opposed to just ticking boxes. All hail Queen Ri!
