It felt more like being on a sound stage for a golden age Hollywood musical than a fashion show, so transporting is the Richard Quinn experience. His set was laid out like a formal garden bursting with the smell of fresh flowers, a 30 piece orchestra and a choir of heavenly voices provided the soundtrack and the models were the stars. Each one uniquely attired in Quinn’s fantastic finery.
He lavished every look with intense detail inspired by the flowers in his elegant garden. Gowns heaved with floral beading and embroidery, one was so laden with embellishment that it tinkled like a tambourine as it sauntered by. Silhouettes were set to stun, with swing capes, catsuits and floor-length beaded evening coats, but there was also a new lightness to the Quinn look, with flounced and fluid dresses that oozed femininity. His show built to a romantic crescendo with a fabulous line-up of bridal gowns, each one more spectacular and photogenic than the last. Say yes to the dress? If it’s by Quinn, absolutely!
