In specific, it was ‘Dovima with Elephants’, (1955) seen below; try and imagine it seven foot high, and then imagine it in the bedroom of someone fantastically and excessively rich. She’s wearing Christian Dior. At the sale by Christie’s all 65 of his works were sold, sadly none of them bought by me, but in case you were wondering what to get me for Christmas, yes a Richard Avedon tome would be appropriate.
